Sutter County department must wait to fill posts Appeal-Democrat staff report  -  2011-09-03 23:53:37 The Sutter County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved 4-0, with one supervisor absent, budget amendments for the mental health  department, but with some caveats for when the department can fill a few openings. Because of some unanticipated new revenues and excessive caseloads, department directors asked the board to approve four positions, including two mental health therapists. However, supervisors said they wanted the department to wait until changes in employee contracts approved in the spring are put into place, a process expected to be completed in the next couple of months. County watchdogs have said the county shouldn't hire employees under old contracts and negate savings from the contract changes.
