Employees still being paid under old contracts" Letter: Sutter County coffers plundered 2011-09-11 20:47:02 The Aug. 25 story "SCTA: Employees still being paid under old contracts" was outstanding. It at last showed that the Appeal-Democrat is finally doing its duty to the citizens of the county. I attended the Aug. 23 Sutter County Board of Supervisors meeting and was amazed to learn that salary and wage contracts were overseen only by the employees' union representative, county supervisors, the county administrator and county counsel officer. The supervisors voted to have a county employee act on behalf of the taxpayers, and there was nobody representing the public, which has to pay these wages and benefits. Could it be that our supervisors are pushing for a swift bankruptcy which might benefit everyone and get them off the hook for their stupidity back in 2004? There is something wrong with a procedure such as this. All those who attended the closed-door meeting benefited from whatever was awarded. All these employees pretend they can negotiate on behalf of the public; however, none of them can say they negotiated against themselves. Away with this form of government: Sutter County citizens must take issues such as this into their own hands. Or perhaps we may slumber through this rape and plunder of the county coffers.
